How to clean a wooden ham holder

It is time for events and meetings with friends and family, and a good Iberian ham or shoulder is always present on our table.

For a correct presentation and tasting, we must take care of every detail, knife, ham holder... That is why we want to help you and offer you our advice on how to clean a ham holder after use so that it remains in perfect condition.

The materials and their composition are important data when cleaning, since there will be materials that require specific care and do not tolerate or are not affected by some cleaning products.


After use, we will have to remove any remains of the cuts that have fallen and wipe with a damp cloth.


However, in the case of finishing the ham and storing the ham holder for a while, we will have to remove the pieces and wash them individually with degreaser and water.


The wood of the ham holder cannot be cleaned with water and must always be left dry, otherwise the humidity of the wood will create bacteria and bad smells.


For this reason, we will clean the wood with a clean, damp cloth, without using too much water that could damage the condition of the wood.


If you have a ham holder with all its parts made of steel, cleaning will be easier.
